I've recently spent quite a while photographing them and because I wasn't sure how many people fond of wildlife photography would want to see it mixed with fursuiters, I've made a separate account for them. Group idea - admins sought

I'm looking for a handful of people that would help me run a group. Curious? Read further.

I've recently quit admin position in TheBestEquine, because other admins where hopelessly idle and approval process was set in a way which made it impossible to approve anything without their aid. I regret the death of the group (unless a miracle happens, I don't think it will rejuvenate anyway), since I really liked its idea - we have a lot of animal groups, but most of them have either automatic or very benevolent approval. I thus have to sieve through hundreds of deviations to find the few good ones. The groups that aim for very high standards are, on the other hand, not animal oriented. I'd like to start a group TheBestAnimals (or something similar) that would aim to create a digest of animal artwork on DA, so that a watcher would only get a few pictures a day, but could expect they'd be worth looking at.

Now why am I writing about it rather then going ahead - I know that I have my busy moments and wouldn't want the group to suffer the same fate as TheBestEquine. Furthermore, if I'm to include non-photography media, I could use artists focusing on these to help me select the best works.

I'm definitely not going to run the group alone (I don't think it would work), so the point of this journal is to find out if there are any people who'd be willing to help me.

What I seek:

People who are online decently often (two or three times a week minimum)

People with decent grasp on given media (no, you don't have to be Michelangello)

Feeling that you're helping to run a successful group (eventually... maybe...

)

If the wonderful benefits persuaded you and you'd like to try, please send me a note with information if you have any experience with groups (are/have been running one), what sort of media/pictures you like and perhaps a few pictures you'd consider a good pick for "the best". If I get enough responses to fill an admin team, a new group will be born. If not... well, I'll probably focus on more watcher features

Watcher features XI.

Hello again,

been a while - lack of time, lack of energy, lack of... well, everything. The breaking point that made me write a journal was a sudden influx of watchers, which I originally wanted to investigate, but I've discovered the reason already. I admit a bit of disappointment that it wasn't due to exceptionally good photos, but a friend referencing me in his journal getting a DD (I remain hopeful I'll get one myself and won't have to rely on getting referenced). Oh well, not as good as being recognized as exceptional artist, but still free publicity. And since the number of watcher started growing faster then I'm going through them in my journals, time to get browsing.

I found relatively few photos, but lot of drawn and painted art - and gotta say it's actually refreshing and that some that stuff is absolutely awesome.

So there we go, starting with

No photographs, but a lot of really cute drawn art out of which the cute canine creature caught my eye immediately.

And we'll keep to drawings with

who draws (among other things) equines, which are also among my (rather broad) collection of favorite ungulates.

has some amazing gallery of animal photos, it's always a pleasure to stumble on one while going through the accounts for features. I'd just recommend a bit firmer hand when sorting them, since I found quite a few "duplicates" and quite a few weaker shots among really amazing ones.

is an distinguished artist that hardly needs a feature, but it would be a shame to miss its gallery. The feature I've chosen is actually hanging on my wall, I've paid good money for it and I don't regret.

is another great discovery - awesome colorful drawings that made me melt. I couldn't decide, there are awesome colorful pieces, but... I just love bighorn sheep, so go to the gallery and take a look at the rest for yourselves.

Last but not least, another artist who hardly needs featuring is

who actually taught me a lot about photography and whose gallery is a must see for anyone interested in artistic photography of animals.
